Perkins believes Steph is on a “revenge tour” after Klay’s departure

Perkins believes Steph is on a ‘revenge tour’ after Klay’s departure originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Warriors rule the Western Conference like it’s 2015 and are in first place for fifteen games of the 2024-2025 NBA season.

However, they are a very different team than they were during those dynasty years, so what drives them to this early success?

“It’s that light-skinned brother with the green eyes,” ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins said Friday at Sports Center. “It seems like he’s on a revenge tour right now. I saw this look in his eyes during the preseason and I said, ‘Steph Curry is locked up.’ Steph Curry, in my opinion, is feeling some way now that Klay Thompson is leaving We saw the passion he played with when they beat Dallas a few weeks ago. But considering how this team plays, Steve Kerr added a new recipe to the game with a 13-man rotation.

“They defend the perimeter at an extremely high level. No. 1 at guarding the three-point line. Draymond Green looks like a guy who says, ‘You know what? I think y’all will have forgotten about me when that time comes.’ to Defensive Player of the Year type guys, and I’ll put my name back in the conversation.” So I know they are playing to secure and retain the NBA Cup, but I look at them in general and I look at the West now with all the injuries and it’s a mystery.

“The Warriors are a legitimate threat in the Western Conference to beat the West.”

Curry, in his 16th season at age 36, has shown no signs of slowing down, even after an ankle injury.

Through 12 games this season, the two-time NBA MVP is averaging 22.7 points on 48.9 percent shooting from the field and 45 percent from long range, with 5.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 29.6 minutes.

Playing without his old defense buddy and Splash Bro for the first time in 13 years, several adjustments have been made for Curry and the entire team. But offseason additions and lineup tweaks have proven to work so far.

It’s unclear if Curry has his own agenda after Thompson left his side to join Kyrie Irving, Luka Dončić and the Mavericks this offseason, but we do know that he took Thompson’s recent return to Chase Center personally after Thompson Curry apparently had ‘ghost’.

Green revealed on “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis” that Curry, who was scheduled to give a pregame speech about Thompson during his Bay Area homecoming but then canceled at the last minute, contacted Thompson to check on something, but never heard anything back. Green said Curry was “pissed off” about it, leading to a 37-point show from the chef, including 12 points in the final three minutes and a 3-point dagger followed by his signature “night night” celebration.

Call it angry. Call it revenge. Call it competitiveness.

Whatever it is, it’s working for Curry and the Warriors.
