Cher recalls deciding at age 14 to lend her virginity to a boy who ‘fired’ her

Cher opens up about losing her virginity as a teenager.

In her new memoir Cher: The Memoir, Part Onewhich was released on Tuesday, November 19, the singer and actress recalls the circumstances that led to her first sexual experience, which she describes as “vastly overrated.”

Cher remembers having a crush on a boy from her neighborhood and that they started dating when she was 14, writing that they would kiss in her bedroom.

However, the ‘Believe’ singer soon noticed that the boy’s behavior changed when his friends were around. “[He] He was sweet enough when we were alone, but as soon as his friends came over, he treated me like an embarrassed child,” she says.

One day, when the boys were planning an outing to a restaurant, she said they laughed and mockingly asked her boyfriend if he wanted to take “that kid” — and he promptly “dumped” her.

“I was so hurt when he did that, I had revenge sex with him. I never wanted that. Otherwise I would have done it one of the 500 other times he asked,” she writes. “But I was so angry about being fired that I decided to lend my virginity to him if I didn’t lose him.”

“As what turned out to be a vastly overrated experience came to an end, I asked him, ‘Is that it? Are we done?’ Then I told him to go home and never come back,” she continues, adding, “I wanted him to feel as rejected as he made me feel.”

Cher notes that the boy later tried to make amends, but she never spoke to him again.

The Burlesque The star also says she heard her mother’s voice ringing in her ears after the first time she had sex. “My mother warned me that she would know as soon as I lost my virginity because she would see it in my eyes, so after romping with the Italian I ran to the mirror to check,” she writes.

“I half expected to see the word SEX flash across my forehead in fluorescent letters,” she adds, “but I couldn’t detect anything else, and neither could she.”

Although she kept the experience a secret from her mother, the pop icon would be sure to report back to her friends, who she says talked non-stop about “fooling around with boys” but never got to “fourth base” at the time. went.

At another point in the book, Cher says she kissed actor Warren Beatty when she was 15 while driving in Hollywood, California. She writes that one day she borrowed her adoptive father’s car and was cut off by a convertible on Sunset Boulevard.
